Learning Designer
(Type of Employment: Fixed Term Contract | Part time)

Candidate Profile:
The Learning Designer (LD) supports the development of a diverse portfolio of online and blended programs and modules including short courses, CPD and executive education. The post holder will use authoring tools to create well-designed, didactically strong and user-friendly learning content. The LD will develop the content on our Moodle platform, and ensure it is regularly reviewed and maintained using approved quality assurance processes and meeting accessibility guidelines. The LD ensures the high pedagogical quality of all material that is produced. The role reports to the Dean of Online Learning.
We are looking for someone who can confidently use e-learning creation tools, especially Moodle, and who has a sound understanding of pedagogical theory and evidence. The post holder will be required to liaise regularly with key academic and professional services staff, freelancers and other colleagues ensuring that all aspects of a project are being delivered to a high standard and in line with project timelines.

- Distance/Online Learning and Assessment outcome and effectiveness
- Distance Learning programs development
- Virtual Learning Environment support and development
- Faculty support and development
- Quality standards assurance: ensuring the content is regularly reviewed and maintained using approved quality assurance processes and meeting accessibility guidelines
Qualifications:
- BSc and/or MSc degree Applied Sciences and/or Education
- Good understanding of the Learning Designer role, and able to demonstrate how own experience is relevant to the role
- Good understanding and experience with application pedagogical principles of online learning for adult learners
- Strong experience designing and/or developing e-learning content and activities, including multimedia learning assets
- Demonstrated experience in creating and or managing course material in a Virtual Learning Environment
- High level ability to select relevant information and present complex ideas clearly and creatively in a logical, coherent way
- Excellent time management skills and experience working across multiple projects with competing deadline
