About the Role 🚀
We are looking for an experienced Head of Legal to join the Hapic team. Your primary goal in this role is to support corporate activities and banking/payment development based on best industry practices and guide Hapic through the licensing process from a legal perspective.
What you will do:
- Provision of legal advice to Hapic’s management team, and Hapic’s Board of Directors for any legal matters that may arise;
- Development of banking products for corporate clients from legal; & regulatory perspective and drafting of legal documents;
- Legal expertise of internal bank documents on servicing legal entities (account opening, money transfers (SWIFT/SEPA), electronic payment instruments, loyalty programs);
- Review and negotiation of agreements and other documents with credit organizations, banking payment agents/aggregators, etc., related to payments, transfers, operations carried out with bank cards, information technology interaction, as well as the provision of other payment services to individuals and legal entities;
- Ensurement of the legality of Hapic’s business practices and Hapic’s compliance with applicable rules and regulations;;
- Research, anticipation and guarding of the Company against legal risks;
- Handling requests and inquiries from supervisory authorities;
- Interaction with regulatory authorities and handling licensing-related matters;
- Development and coordination of general business contracts and agreements;
- Updating standard forms of payment segment contracts;
- Coordination and development of internal regulatory documents and policies;
- Assumption of the duties of the Data Protection Officer;
- Involvement in any ad-hoc projects and provision of advice accordingly;
What you will need:
- Higher legal education;
- Knowledge of legal acts regulating the opening of accounts, deposits for individuals, use of electronic payment instruments, and execution of transfers, as well as knowledge of relevant case law (PSD 2, EMD, EBA Guidelines applicable for EMIs, Central bank of Cyprus regulations);
- Knowledge of legislation on personal data protection (GDPR), AML, and relevant case law;
- Experience with digital banking products, including legal expertise on the use of remote banking channels (internet banking, mobile banking, contact center), electronic signature, identification and authentication systems and tools, and on issues related to information interaction with partners and counterparties when implementing digital banking products;
- Experience in legal expertise related to interactions with payment systems;
- Experience in interaction with supervisory authorities for compliance with legal requirements when implementing/providing digital banking products;
- Advanced and proficient English skills.
