The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an academic officer to support the Academic Programs. The officer is expected to multi-task and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The tasks and responsibilities of the academic officer include the following:
- Supporting the academic activities of the three faculties (Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Faculty of Business) such as the implementation of academic rules and regulations, course equivalencies and course offerings.
- Act as a point of contact for faculty, students, and staff on all academic matters.
- Administer instructor course evaluations.
- Facilitate faculty recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes in collaboration with the academic units and human resources.
- Liaise the transfer requests received by admissions, and coordinate with faculty members, deans, and academic advisors on equivalencies and transfer decision.
- Assist the deans in accreditation matters.
- Coordinate meetings related to academic matters between different stakeholders as needed, investigate inquiries, and provide prompt feedback, within the requested timeframe.
- Provide administrative support to the deans including communications with the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA) and other local entities.
- Generate progress reports and presentations relevant to academic matters whenever needed.
- Maintain updated files and records of faculty members and academic programs/ departments.
- Ensure that all academic information on the university website are updated and accurate.
- Coordinate and assist the Registrar’s office during the advising and the registration periods.
- Handle faculty transfer and other students’ petitions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in working within an academic setting.
- Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills; fluency in Greek language would be an asset.
- Strong organizational, team-work and interpersonal abilities.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven discretion and confidentiality capabilities.
