The Student Welfare Officer, reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, will serve as the primary contact for welfare inquiries from students, leading efforts in welfare and safeguarding. This role involves collaborating with colleagues across the University to ensure students receive comprehensive support and that any barriers to learning are addressed swiftly and effectively.
The Student Welfare Officer will also coordinate specialist support when needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide confidential, one-on-one support to students facing personal, academic, or social challenges.
- Organize social events and activities to foster a vibrant and inclusive student community.
- Collaborate with staff to develop policies that enhance student well-being and enrich university life.
- Assist students with welfare-related concerns both prior to and after their arrival on campus.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Coordinate with faculty to support student retention, academic success, and resource access.
- Coordinate workshops and seminars with employers to enhance students’ job skills and industry knowledge.
- Offer career guidance to help students explore a wide range of job opportunities and career paths.
- Facilitate student placements and nurture connections with potential employers to promote career readiness.
- Oversee the university's job portal for alumni and students, ensuring listings for jobs, internships, and placements are current and accessible.
- Cultivate and strengthen the university's relationship with the alumni community to enhance connections and engagement.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Counselling, or any other related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek language.
- Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
