Role Summary:
As the AMLCO at our CySEC-regulated firm, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of our anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) program. This role is central to ensuring our firm adheres to CySEC regulations and global best practices. Success in this position involves effectively identifying, mitigating, and reporting AML/CTF risks, while building a robust compliance culture within the organization. You will be the point of contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring that our policies and procedures are always compliant and up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities:- Regulatory Compliance: Develop, implement, and manage AML/CTF policies in compliance with CySEC regulations.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments to identify money laundering and terrorist financing risks, ensuring that mitigation measures are in place.
- Training & Awareness: Provide training to staff at all levels on AML/CTF obligations, ensuring the firm remains compliant.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee the ongoing monitoring of transactions, reporting any suspicious activities to CySEC and other relevant authorities.
- Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for regulators (CySEC), auditors, and law enforcement agencies on AML-related matters.
- Internal Audits: Conduct regular audits of the firm’s AML processes to identify and correct any deficiencies or areas for improvement.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of AML compliance activities and suspicious transaction reports (STRs), ensuring these are up-to-date and accessible.
- Compliance Program Review: Regularly review and update the AML/CTF program to ensure it remains effective and aligned with changing regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in an AMLCO or similar compliance role, preferably within a CySEC-regulated environment.
- Certification: Professional qualification such as CySEC AMLCO certification is a must. ICA International Diploma in Anti Money Laundering, ACAMS is an advantage.
Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of CySEC regulations and the EU’s 4th and 5th AML Directives.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them in practical terms.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal training and regulatory correspondence.
- High attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Other Qualifications: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong ethical judgment.

Success as the AMLCO will be measured by the firm’s consistent compliance with CySEC and global AML regulations, minimal regulatory findings in audits, and the successful training and awareness of all staff on AML/CTF requirements. The AMLCO will also ensure timely and accurate reporting of suspicious activities and contribute to the firm’s reputation for ethical and responsible business practices.
