The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Finance Directorate (FI), Capital Markets Department (CAP), Financial Markets Documentation Division (FIMA), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a
Graduate.
This is a full-time temporary position. The term of this contract will be 1 year.
Panel interviews are anticipated for May 2025.
Purpose
You will support senior team members in the Finance Directorate by working on borrowing documents to ensure the Bank’s funding capabilities. Collaborating with experienced professionals, you will contribute to the Bank’s mission as the Bank of the European Union and a leader in climate finance.

Operating Network
You will report to the Head of Division, and work in close collaboration with all members of the Division, and will have permanent interactions with funding officers, frequent contacts with other FI departments and JU (Legal Directorate).
The team supports the Bank’s funding and treasury activities. This position will offer excellent opportunities to enhance financial contract and documentation skills, work on analytical and transactional tasks and collaborate with experienced colleagues, while gaining first-hand exposure and experience of working on capital markets issues.
Internal contacts: as a Graduate you will interact with all FI departments and their respective management, as well as with colleagues in other Directorates, primarily in Legal (JU).
External contacts: when required in performing your duties, the Bank’s counterparties. when required in performing your duties, the Bank’s counterparties.
Accountabilities
Contribute to a wide range of capital markets related activities including:
Borrowing
- Support the execution of capital markets documentation for standardised transactions,
- Execute specific and defined aspects of standard documentation processes, such as:
- review and comment on term sheets and bond issue documentation (final terms and subscription agreements),
- ensure smooth closing of each standard bond issuance by following up in a prompt manner with all involved parties,
General
- Conduct any legal, regulatory, and operational research required in relation to the team’s documentation activities.
- Actively contribute to the improvement of the products, processes, and procedures of the Bank by analysing and identifying (also by interacting with other divisions/departments) potential changes, providing concrete proposals, and following up their implementation.
- Provide further analytic, research or other professional support as required for capital markets related documentation activities.
Qualifications
- University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Law, but degrees in Finance, Economics, Business or related field can also be considered, ideally together with a demonstrated experience with documentation matters.
- No more than two years of relevant professional experience after graduation (summer jobs and internships with a duration of less than 9 months should not be counted).
- Professional experience in legal, regulatory and/or financial area would be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of finance, financial law and documentation is required.
- In-depth understanding of financial law, documentation, and financial and operational aspects in relation to capital markets would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Bank’s standard office tools (particularly Word and Excel).
- Excellent knowledge of English. (Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage).
