Purpose of Position:
To coordinate and oversee procurement activities for technical projects, ensuring optimal cost control, supplier performance, and adherence to project timelines and budgets. The role involves managing procurement strategies, contracts, and inventory while collaborating with project teams to meet operational and financial objectives effectively acting as a vital link between the Procurement Department and the Projects Department to ensure seamless integration of resources and objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Align procurement activities with project budgets, timelines, and financial objectives
- Conduct market research to identify competitive rates and services to ensure the best value for money
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and ensure suppliers adhere to contract obligations
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure costs are always within budget and timelines
- Conduct pre-qualification technical assessments for Bills of Quantities (BOQs) before tender awards or equivalent processes
- Track and expedite orders in coordination with suppliers and project teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Draft, review and negotiate complex technical procurement contracts to ensure clarity on deliverables, timelines and penalties for non-compliance
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Conduct inspections and audits on suppliers to ensure quality assurance
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in procurement and store management processes
- Implement best practices and industry standards to optimize project purchasing and resource management
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or inventory management
- Experience leading a team
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
