THE CLIENT
Reporting to the CEO, this position is responsible for ensuring that all functions actively support the growth of the business, with a specific focus on delivering world-class service to its clients. The COO will lead the operational strategy, ensuring that card (VISA and Mastercard) and payment operations (SEPA, SWIFT, alternative payments, and others) remain at the forefront of innovation and functionality.
As COO, You must focus strongly on card and payment projects, processes, and client delivery, including call center operations. The role will ensure robust management practices are followed, with a formal development plan in place to meet the growing business's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Led the payment and card operations team to ensure high-quality operational support, including setting targets, defining deliverables, and conducting performance reviews to uphold internal quality standards and meet service-level agreements.
- Develop and implement best practice operational strategies and processes, continuously refining them to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee the entire payment processing lifecycle, including settlements, chargebacks, and reconciliations, ensuring seamless end-to-end process management.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and drive departmental performance.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Create a comprehensive operational framework with detailed policies, processes, procedures, internal controls, and KPIs.
- Ensure daily reconciliation of inbound and outbound payments with source systems and bank statements, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Foster and manage relationships with correspondent banks, partners, and vendors to ensure smooth operational flow and strategic alignment.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of all payment and card operational issues, ensuring timely and effective handling of exceptions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to explore and develop new operational strategies and technological solutions.
- Drive the identification and implementation of operational improvements to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Champion and oversee new projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of payment and card operations.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and training to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensure strict compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and adherence to internal policies and guidelines across all processes.
- Offer support to other internal teams as required, promoting collaboration and operational excellence across the organization.
Professional Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of operational experience in a leadership role, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Demonstrated success in change management, including the ability to build and scale an operations function effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of payment and card processing mechanisms, with a strong grasp of industry best practices.
- Proficient in reconciling transactions between payment, card systems, and back-office or bank statements.
