* Position Title: Planner Engineer
* Reports To: Deputy Project Manager (or relevant senior role)
* Position Overview:
The Planner Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules,
ensuring that all aspects of the project are properly planned and executed. This role involves working
closely with project teams, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure timelines are adhered to, risks are
identified, and corrective actions are taken where necessary.
* Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Scheduling & Planning:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using software (Primavera is a must).
- Breakdown the project into phases, tasks, and milestones to ensure accurate tracking.
- Define project deliverables and timelines to meet key deadlines.
2. Resource Planning:
- Identify the resources (human, technical, financial) required for each phase of the project.
- Allocate resources efficiently to ensure optimal use and avoid bottlenecks.
3. Risk Management & Reporting:
- Identify, assess, and monitor project risks (e.g., delays, resource constraints).
- Proactively propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Regularly update project dashboards and reports to track progress and highlight any risks
or deviations from the schedule.
4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Collect data from various project teams and monitor ongoing activities.
- Generate progress reports, highlighting key metrics (e.g., KPIs) and the status of project
phases.
- Provide regular updates to senior management regarding progress, potential delays, or
budget issues.
5. Change Control:
- Manage changes in project scope, budget, and timeline, ensuring that all alterations are
well-documented and approved.
- Ensure compliance with change control procedures and identify impacts on the schedule.
6. Performance Analysis & Adjustment:
- Analyze deviations in the project timeline and propose adjustments to minimize delays.
- Recommend corrective actions and ensure alignment with project objectives and
timelines.
7. Coordination, Collaboration & Communication:
- Coordinate with all project stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and
clients, to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, documenting and sharing minutes to ensure everyone
is informed of progress, issues, and changes.
- Collaborate with the engineering, procurement, construction, and other departments to
ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure that all teams are aligned with the project schedule and objectives.
* Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.) / Primavera is a
Must
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project
documentation.
- Knowledge of construction, engineering, and architectural principles.
- Ability to manage budgets and control costs.
- Familiarity with risk management strategies and mitigation techniques.
- Knowledge of project lifecycle, from planning through execution.
* Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP) are a plus.
* Experience:
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, or a related field.
- Experience working on large-scale construction or engineering projects is preferred.
* Working Conditions:
- Part-time position and remotely.
