Job Purpose
The Junior System / Infrastructure officer provides day to day technical support to members of staff and associated third parties, under a customer focused service delivery, for internal systems software and hardware. The post holder is jointly responsible for the maintenance and support of the corporate ICT infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to, maintaining the health and security of our offices network, reporting, and maintaining infrastructure assets and inventory, assisting on the cloud solutions and phone system. Contribute to ICT infrastructure projects and other operational needs as required. Enhancing our available technologies to keep the team as agile and effectively possible.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide end-user support, resolving technical issues and provides technical assistance for all operating systems
- Building and configuring user computers and mobile devices in accordance with the approved company’s software
- Taking ownership of incidents/problems, actioning and updating logged tickets and ensuring service delivery, communication, and escalation paths are followed
- Troubleshoot issues reported by users, isolate them, run root-cause analysis, and resolve repeated problems under a change/problem management approach
- Implementing, supporting, and maintaining robust procedures that ensure the effective operation and availability of corporate systems
- Analyzing and supporting corporate systems (servers, computers, network, active directory etc.), performing checks, updates, and backups.
- Maintaining records and contributing to the SOP documentation and infrastructure knowledge base
- Supporting and contributing to service and infrastructure continual improvement initiatives
- Undertaking necessary duties involved with projects that arise that have an impact on the infrastructure, as instructed by the Head of IT infrastructure
- Managing infrastructure facilities such as asset management, anti-virus capability, system configuration, deployment, and maintenance services
- Assist on installation, upgrades, maintenance, and performance monitoring of infrastructure systems and services from on-premises and hybrid to cloud.
- Keeping up to date with new technologies, systems and assisting with evaluations
- Maintain excellent communication and close collaboration with other departments and colleagues
Qualifications & Experience
- A Degree in Computer Science or other related field or adequate experience in a similar position
- 1+ year experience in Junior system/infrastructure administration
- Knowledge in maintaining Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Intune)
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
- Knowledge of virtualization concepts and experience with VMware or Hyper-V
- Knowledge in maintaining phone systems (e.g., 3CX)
- Knowledge with networking concepts (TCP/IP, subnetting)
- Knowledge with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience with Service Desk solutions. (FreshService, Jira or other)
- Experience with monitoring and alerting services
- Excellent knowledge of the English Language
- Effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Excellent user and customer service skills such as empathy, incident analysis and business prioritization
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Logical thinker and the ability to work within a team
- Good organizational and self-time management skills
- Honesty and reliability
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
