The company is currently seeking a
R&D TECHNOLOGIST with the following responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and perform the necessary trials and experiments (bench-top, pilot plant, and factory scale) as required to deliver the process and product development projects and are delivered in a timely manner
- Provide product/process expertise and assistance within the R&D department and across the business (e.g., with Marketing, Production Procurement, Sales) as required on a wide variety of projects
- Understanding the needs of the markets and operations, generating new innovative product and process ideas
- Function as a project team leader as assigned. Required activities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing effective project leadership for the projects assigned
- Fulfilling all requirements of the Product Development Process and regarding deliverables for each phase
- Complete all required documentation (whether paper or electronic) and project reporting in a timely manner
- Adherence to Company policy on protection of patent rights and intellectual property
- Participate and contribute as a member of a cross-functional team. Actively drive product and process conceptualization, development and scale-up. Interface on a project implementation team by assisting with hand-off from development to start-up and providing operational training as required
- Provide "technical" training as required to operating company personnel
- Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports
- Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures
- Travel as necessary
- Practice safety in the work area. Engage in and execute the safety practices of the organization
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
B.S. in Food Science/ Chemistry, MSc Food Science/ Nutrition preferred
A minimum of 3 years' R&D experience, preferably in food
Must be able to manage multiple projects/priorities
Excellent product development skills including strong ingredient knowledge and a solid understanding of nutrition and unit processes
Good consumer understanding and stays abreast of consumer and competitor trends, experience with customer tests
Manufacturing quality, process and lean manufacturing principle
