Global Business Development & Strategy (GBD&S) International Europe is part of Lockheed Martin corporation, which is headquartered in Bethesda Maryland. We are a lean, dynamic and agile team covering a wide breadth of business across the whole region with a headquarters in London but regional offices across Europe. This post covers Greece and the successful candidate will work closely and pro-actively with both GBD&S International Europe and US colleagues.
The job requires excellent written and spoken Greek and English. The chosen individual will be based in Athens but will need to be fully mobile to travel as required. High ethical standards and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural team is key.
The role works to strengthen Lockheed Martin stakeholders’ relationships and support the development and delivery of corporate strategy in the region. As part of the GBD&S International team, and reporting to the Country Director, the position supports the profitable growth of Lockheed Martin business in Greece.
The GBD&S Country Manager will report to the Country Director to enable LM to deliver the strategy for Greece and be successful in winning/keep-sold the key programmes in country.
Required skills, qualifications and experience:
- Fluent in Greek and English, written and verbal
- Experience in defence, aerospace, international relations
- Proven business development within defence sector in Greece
- Experience of representing a brand and communicating clearly both within the company and to customers and stakeholders
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of in country government, political and military decision processes and requirements
- Ability to identify business opportunities
- Ability to maintain and manage current business relationships as well as identify new business with government and commercial customers
- Strong ability to build successful business relationships with all levels of stakeholders in both public and private sectors
- Team player who can work well within international multi-cultural teams, committed to personal excellence, ethical behaviour and integrity
- Knowledge and experience of successfully working and thriving in a fast paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple lines of work concurrently
- High degree of flexibility and the availability to travel frequently within Greece and occasionally elsewhere within Europe and to the US
- Self-motivation and the ability to operate in a virtual team with minimal guidance
Working closely with corporate functions and Business Areas in LM, the Country Manager will:

- Develop and support LM corporate engagement and business development in Greece
- Provide a strong understanding of Greek customer plans and priorities
- Understand the business environment and trends affecting Lockheed Martin
- Support strategies for growing and maintaining Lockheed Martin business in Greece
Responsibilities include:
- Support the development and implementation of the Lockheed Martin Greek strategy
- Represent Lockheed Martin with key Government, political, industrial and military stakeholders in Greece and develop and maintain positive and appropriate relationships with them in coordination with the Business Areas
- Provide LM Business Areas with a clear understanding of changing customer needs and expectations in terms of capabilities, technologies, requirements and their impact on capture / contract content and delivery
- Provide political, military and economic situational reports to Lockheed Martin executives
- Contribute to the creation, development and sustainment of industrial partnerships and alliances
- Plan and coordinate events and activities to support the Corporation’s business development and government relations goals
- Position LM as one company through Events, Seminars, Sponsorships and Donations
