Our client, a leading online gambling operator, providing cutting-edge gaming experiences to customers globally, are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead their technology function.
Role Overview
As CTO, you will oversee the company’s technology strategy, execution, and innovation. While the role is hands-off in coding, you must have a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of the technologies they use. This role will focus primarily on driving excellence in frontend development while ensuring backend, cloud, and DevOps practices support business growth and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technology vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of developers, with a focus on frontend leadership. Foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.
- Architecture & Strategy: Guide architectural decisions for React/Next.js (frontend) and PHP (backend) systems, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and innovation.
- Cloud Computing: Oversee infrastructure hosted on AWS, ensuring efficient and secure use of cloud services.
- DevOps Practices: Promote and enhance DevOps practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with other executives and departments (e.g., Product) to drive technology initiatives that meet business objectives.
- Governance & Best Practices: Ensure the implementation of robust security, quality, and compliance standards across all technology platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a technology team, ideally as CTO, VP of Engineering, or similar.
- Strong expertise in frontend technologies, particularly React and Next.js, with a solid understanding of backend development in PHP.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud computing (AWS) and experience managing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience implementing and overseeing DevOps practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and scale large teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and growth.
- Experience in the online gambling or iGaming industry is highly desirable but not essential.
