Key Responsibilities
•Learning the operations and structure of a complex industry and a large business Group;
•Monitoring competition law developments worldwide affecting the container shipping, terminal and landside logistics industries, liaising with local counsel, analysing the competition implications for the company and disseminating the information internally to interested parties;
•Analysing legal issues and making recommendations on actions to be taken in substantial competition and maritime regulatory matters, bearing in mind that in this industry any issue typically simultaneously involves multiple jurisdictions;
•Advising and working through issues arising out of operative cooperation with competitors, including preparing self-assessments and reviewing information flows;
•Answering requests for information received from authorities around the world;
•Handling industry investigations around the world;
•Advising and supporting the transactions by other business units within the MSC Group;
•Reviewing, interpreting and applying industry regulations and court rulings, conducting legal research, and representing the company before governmental and regulatory authorities;
•Working closely with other legal functions in the company to ensure that their interests are taken into account in corporate development and commercial projects;
•Participating in the development and review of the company’s policies, procedures, training programmes, practices and business strategies to ensure compliance and conformity with standards set forth in the applicable laws. Delivering trainings, including at MSC agency offices or meetings;
•Reviewing and coordinating the efficient use of outside competition law firms and other relevant advisers (e.g. economists) by the company;
•Managing assigned or delegated special projects and tasks to completion in an efficient, economical manner in accordance with company goals and objectives.

Requirements
•University degree in law or equivalent nationally approved qualification, including specialist studies in competition law;
•Master’s degree (LLM or similar title) is a plus
•Qualification as an Attorney at Law in Greece (Athens Bar Association or other Bar Membership)
•2 – 5 years’ professional legal experience with substantial practice in competition related matters. Experience with a multi-national company, the competition department of a law firm, or a competition authority (DG COMP or a national competition authority) is an advantage;
•Solid expertise and experience in the field of competition law including both merger control and competition litigation;
•Ability to exercise sound and reasoned judgement, analysing relevant facts and applying legal conclusions;
•Readiness to handle a mixture of competition issues in corporate, commercial and maritime and related regulatory work;
•Ability to proactively assist internal clients and to work independently while keeping others informed, good communication and problem-solving skills, and good legal writing skills;
•Native or strong working level fluency in spoken and written English;
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
