Job Purpose: The Interim Head of PMO is responsible for upholding and advancing the company’s project management capabilities during the absence of the Head of PMO. This role ensures the continuity of project delivery, governance, and resource management while addressing immediate challenges and setting the foundation for future growth. Additionally, the Interim Head of PMO serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on project execution and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Continuity & Stabilization
- Ensure seamless daily operations within the PMO
- Maintain governance standards, methodologies, and tools to ensure consistency in project delivery across all active projects
Project Portfolio Management
- Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and objectives
- Lead project prioritization and resource allocation aligned with business goals
- Address risks, bottlenecks, or issues in projects; collaborate with stakeholders and third parties to implement swift resolutions
PSP Integration Management
- Liaise with the PSP (Payment Service Provider) team for seamless integration and manage new PSP integrations
- Oversee the API requirements, technical specifications, and UX/UI flow to ensure alignment with business needs and enhance user experience
Strategic Guidance & Transition Planning
- Provide strategic insights to senior leadership on PMO status and recommend enhancements
- Develop and implement short-term plans to boost project execution, communication, and resource efficiency
- Facilitate a smooth handover to the permanent Head of PMO by preparing reports, audits, and insights
Risk Management & Problem Resolution
- Act promptly to resolve critical issues impacting project delivery or business outcomes; escalate to relevant departments if necessary
- Communicate risks and corrective actions to senior leadership and project stakeholders
Team Leadership & Support
- Lead the PMO team, fostering focus, motivation, and productivity
- Guide project managers on best practices and provide support for skill development
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Maintain transparent communication with stakeholders, keeping them informed of project status, risks, and successes
- .Prepare and present regular updates to senior leadership on PMO performance and challenges
- Manage stakeholder expectations to ensure alignment with the PMO’s scope and capacity
Key Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in project management, including experience with fin-tech projects
- Proven track record managing large portfolios and cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and portfolio management practices
- Experience in API integration, technical specifications, and understanding of UX/UI flows related to PSPs
- Ability to quickly evaluate the PMO’s status and recommend immediate improvements
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and talent development
- Proficient in risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making
- Strong communication and presentation skills to engage with stakeholders and senior leadership effectively
