POSITION PURPOSE
This position will report to the Helpdesk Manager. They will support the main & satellite company locations as the first point of contact for our internal customers seeking technical assistance via phone, e-mail, ticketing, or in person. They will be responsible for providing excellent customer service for basic technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software. This role will respond to user inquiries and requests, troubleshoot problems, and resolve issues.
Essential Functions And Basic Duties
Assumes responsibility for timely and effective PC installation and maintenance.
- Sets up and installs PCs.
- Maintains, modifies, and enhances PCs as needed.
- Tests PC performance. Studies and resolves operating problems.
- Maintains systems' integrity and performance.
- Maintains documentation.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communication and working relations with PC users.
- Responds to users' requests and follows through promptly.
- Resolves problems and concerns. Provides assistance, support, and training to users as needed. Ensures that PCs meet users' requirements and installations are completed in a timely manner.
- Communicates as much information as possible to users, including reasons for problems, project status, and deadlines.
- Acts as a consultant and resource to users.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area staff and with management.
- Keeps management informed of significant problems and of progress attained in reaching established objectives. Provides recommendations for more effective programs and future equipment needs. Suggests related procedural changes.
- Assists and supports Information Systems personnel as needed.
- Prepares reports of activities, records, and other required documents.
- Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
- Provide back-up support for various IT functions as assigned.
Assumes Responsibility For Related Duties As Required Or Assigned.
- Stays informed of changes in computer technology and programs.
- Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
- PC installations and maintenance are completed effectively and timely. Problems are readily identified and resolved.
- Assigned tasks and functions are completed in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Good working relations exist with users. Users' concerns are promptly addressed, and problems effectively resolved.
- Required reports and documentation are complete and current.
- Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant or recurring problems. Good working relations exist with Information Systems personnel. Support and direction are provided as needed.
Qualifications
Skills/Abilities:
- Provide technical support to users and staff.
- Implement Helpdesk maintenance procedures.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff.
- Read, interpret, and apply technical instructions.
- Keep current by reading, interpreting, and applying information on technological changes and updates.
- Prepare clear and concise written communications to respond to user questions.
- Ability to learn new software and hardware packages.
- Work independently and as a team member while establishing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with all those contacted during work.
Experience Required: This position requires a knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals. Knowledge of various computer applications, including Credit Union related systems, is a plus.
Required Knowledge: Entry level knowledge of domain environments, various applications and operating systems, and physical information technology components is preferred.
Education/CERTIFICATION: Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to possession of a high school diploma; such education should be at a level which demonstrates the ability to perform duties comparable to those listed herein. Education and certifications related to information technology are preferred.
OTHER: Strong communication is a must. Possesses a valid Utah driver's license; can travel for work assignments; and willing to work additional hours during the week and/or weekend if needed.
