The role
We are looking to hire a
Senior Financial Accountant to join Plum and be based in Cyprus. In this role you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting compliance with local regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation. This role requires a deep understanding of both IFRS and UK GAAP accounting principles, tax regulations, and familiarity with the unique aspects of the local financial landscape.
Ideally You Will:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with both IFRS and UK GAAP accounting principles
- Record and classify financial transactions, ensuring adherence to local accounting principles
- Stay abreast of changes in Cyprus tax laws and regulations
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local tax requirements
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS accounting principles
- Generate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with local reporting requirements
- Monitor and manage VAT processes, including the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Ensure compliance with Cyprus VAT regulations
- Review and process expense reports in accordance with company policies and local regulations
- Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and recommendations
- Collaborate with local and international teams to gather financial information and support decision-making processes
- Liaise with local regulatory bodies and financial institutions as necessary
Ideally You:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable
- 5+ years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in a fintech or technology-driven environment in Cyprus
- In-depth knowledge of Cyprus accounting standards, tax regulations, and VAT requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
