We are searching for an enthusiastic and committed
Senior Legal Advisor to join our dynamic team at HFM.
Your role at HFM:
- Provide expert legal advice to senior executives, managers, and staff on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, corporate governance, labor law, intellectual property, litigation, and compliance.
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring the organisation’s interests are protected. Advise on contract interpretation and resolve disputes related to contracts.
- Support the development and implementation of corporate governance policies and practices. Ensure that the organisation adheres to legal and ethical standards.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with trading operations. Advise on the risk of legal action arising from trading practices, regulatory violations, or contractual obligations.
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (for operations in the EU) and other relevant data protection regulations based on the Group entities.
- Advise on the company’s data processing practices and ensure that sensitive customer data, financial records, and personal information are handled in compliance with these laws.
- Performing research on legal cases.
- Review new regulations, their application and advising on how these may affect the company’s operations.
- Collaborate and communicate with external legal advisers and corporate service providers on various legal and other issues.
- Undertake ad hoc duties as may be reasonably requested by the Manager of Legal Function.
Requirements
What You Bring:
- BSc/BA in Law or any related field.
- 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience in a corporate environment, with 2+ years in a similar role. Preferably at an international investment firm or international consulting/law-firm.
- Strong background and expertise in investment firm legislation, brokerage, payments and financial services regulations.
- Knowledge and experience of financial, corporate and securities law concepts and a working knowledge of the laws of Cyprus and EU.
- Ability to identify relevant business and legal issues proactively, evaluate the risks and find creative solutions particularly to novel situations.
- Experience in working across multiple jurisdictions.
- Relevant CySEC certificates would be considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of IT / IP / Data protection law and regulations is a significant plus.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
- Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English language.
- Strong personality with a proactive, action-oriented mindset and a team player.
- Ability to effectively and proactively supervise external service providers.
- Attention to detail; exceptional communication skills.
