We are searching for an enthusiastic and committed
Network Engineer to join our dynamic team at HFM.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in networking concepts and practices, excellent knowledge of firewall management, and experience with scripting for network automation. A solid understanding of systems administration is also necessary. This role requires working closely with our IT Infrastructure team to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of our network resources.
Your role at HFM:
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN, ensuring efficient data flow and high availability.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot firewalls, ensuring network traffic and security policies align with industry best practices.
- Use monitoring tools like Prometheus and PRTG to proactively manage network performance, identify issues, and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Work with the systems team to troubleshoot connectivity issues, assist in server and network integration, and enhance network performance across multiple platforms.
- Develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts for network automation, configuration management, and performance tuning.
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with the security team to implement access controls, VPNs, and other network security solutions, maintaining a secure environment.
- Provide first-level response for network incidents, participating in root-cause analysis and recommending preventive measures.
- Regularly assess network capacity, plan for future growth, and optimise network performance to support business needs and scalability.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, maintenance, and support, while maintaining an up-to-date inventory of network assets.
- Implement and test network backup and recovery procedures to ensure network resilience and data integrity in the event of failures or disasters.
- Ensure network infrastructure adheres to compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001) and company policies, incorporating industry standards for security and data privacy.
- Perform any additional tasks or projects as requested by the manager to support departmental and company goals.
Requirements
- BA/BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 3+ years’ of professional experience in network engineering.
- Proficiency with network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls (FortiGate experience is a plus), and VPNs.
- Strong command of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs.
- Experience with network monitoring tools, specifically Prometheus and PRTG, for performance tracking and troubleshooting.
- Scripting experience in Bash and Python for network and system automation tasks.
- Fair understanding of system administration (Linux and Windows servers).
- CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or AWS Cloud certifications preferred, but not mandatory if you have equivalent experience.
- Native or near-native proficiency in English.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and analytical mindset.
- Strong documentation abilities, with a focus on process standardisation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and technical writing.
