Job Description for Regulatory Affairs Department:
A Regulatory Affairs Officer - Cosmetics is responsible for ensuring that cosmetic products comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. This role involves working with internal teams to ensure that cosmetic products are safe, effective, and marketed in accordance with regulatory requirements. The officer supports product development, manufacturing, and marketing activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies such as the EU regulations, and other global agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
1 - Regulatory Compliance and Guidance:
- Monitor and interpret global cosmetic regulations, EU Cosmetics Regulation, Health Canada, and other regional guidelines.
- Provide regulatory expertise and advice to internal teams on product formulations, claims, labeling, and packaging to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
- Stay up to date with changes in cosmetic regulations and industry trends and assess their potential impact on product development and business operations.
2 - Product Registration and Approvals:
- Coordinate and prepare all necessary regulatory documentation and submissions for product approvals and registrations in various markets.
- Handle the process of submitting new products, ingredient notifications, and required documentation to regulatory agencies.
3 - Labeling and Claims Review:
- Ensure that product labels meet legal requirements, including ingredients list, usage instructions, warnings, and marketing claims.
- Review and approve product claims (e.g., "hypoallergenic," "dermatologist-tested") to ensure they are supported by proper evidence and compliant with regulations.
4 - Market Surveillance and Compliance:
- Monitor and track market conditions, industry regulations, and any potential risks associated with the company’s products in the market.
- Conduct post-market surveillance and reporting to ensure compliance with ongoing regulatory obligations.
5 - Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Collaborate with R&D, marketing, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to ensure regulatory compliance at every stage of product development and launch.
- Advise R&D on ingredient safety, formulation changes, and regulatory requirements for new products.
6 - Safety and Risk Management:
- Assist in safety assessments and risk management activities for new and existing products.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines for ingredient safety and product testing.
- Address any safety concerns or adverse event reports related to cosmetic products and ensure proper reporting to regulatory authorities.
7 - Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain organized records of regulatory filings, approvals, and correspondence with regulatory bodies.
- Ensure that all regulatory documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audits or inspections.
8 - Training and Awareness:
- Provide internal training and guidance on regulatory requirements to other teams, including marketing and product development departments.
- Raise awareness about regulatory trends and best practices within the company.
