Hudson Group is an international retailer and distributor primarily involved in the sport and fashion wear sectors. The Group’s head office is in Malta but is also present through offices in Italy, Cyprus, Morocco, Nigeria and Algeria.
Though Hudson Holdings was founded in 2006, the Group’s roots reach as far back as 1987 when the first pair of NIKE was sold in Malta.
Role purpose
Responsible for managing the Group's treasury function and managing the Group’s cashflow to ensure optimum efficiency as well as safeguarding the business against currency and interest rate movements.
The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Prepare, monitor and manage the group cashflows forecasts to ensure adequacy of finance structure
- Manage foreign currency exposure including developing mitigation strategies
- Manage and interest rates and interest costs
- Manage the Group's bank relationships
- Contribute towards feasibility studies and group expansion projects by referencing to the financing position and ensuring sufficient liquidity
- Ensure compliance with banking obligations, financial covenants and any other obligations, including Bond obligations
- Forecast medium- and long-term funding, and hedging requirements when needed
- Handle daily cash management and debt facilities management
- Ensure timely settlement of intercompany balances (trade and non-trade)
- Contribute towards setting group transfer pricing policies
- Coordinate with Supply Chain/Accounts Payable for payments of suppliers
- Liaise with Accounts Receivable for timely settlement of debtors
- Review and approve New Client/Brands onboarding/existing contract renegotiations for optimal credit terms
- Decide on cash reserves to meet unexpected expenses, or fluctuations in income
- Develop and implement treasury policies and procedures to ensure that all financial activities are conducted in accordance with company standards
- Prepare reports for management and the board as requested
- Liaise with senior management across the organisation
- Support the month end process where necessary
Core Competencies, Knowledge, And Experience
- Degree in accounting, banking, or a related subject
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a Treasury Function
- Ideally, exposure to banking operations and processes
- Sound understanding of accounting principles
- Strong understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, and debt instruments
- Knowledge of banking relationships and covenants
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to work autonomously and be part of the broader team
- Appropriate handling of sensitive information
- Able to take informed decisions in the best interest of the organisation
- Excellent time management and organisational ability
- High level of attention to detail
- Have strong leadership and relationship management skills, with an ability to build good relationships with stakeholders
- Team player with the ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple parties
